Rhino bush, also known as Renosterbos or Elephant’s food, is a member of the Asteraceae family and is native to South Africa. It is primarily found in the Western Cape and Eastern Cape provinces, within the fynbos biome. Fynbos is a unique vegetation type found only in South Africa and is characterised by its high biodiversity and prevalence of fire-adapted plants. Rhino bush is well-adapted to the fynbos environment and is often found on hillsides and along watercourses. It has small, narrow, grey-green leaves and produces clusters of small yellow flowers. The plant has a strong scent.
Rhino bush has been used in traditional medicine for various health benefits. It is known for its antibacterial and antifungal properties, making it useful for treating skin infections and wounds.
